There is no doubt among service engineers that the miele brand of washing machines is just simply the best. The cheapest miele washing machine can be bought for under £600.

Typically, 15 to 20 years lifespan makes this basic model superb value for money. especially, as this model is structurally the same as that which is at the top end of the brand.

This machine is ideal for washing 9 plus loads per week. If you think you wash less than 9 loads per week and you do not wish to spend up to £600 on a new washing machine, then choose from my other recommendations.

When it comes to reliability and quality - they don't come any better and this is recognised by Which? according to this article from the Miele website media centre.

No other brand (apart from bosch) can come close to the miele brand. You can see and feel the quality of this machine. Structural and design quality are the same throughout this brand, from top of the range with all the added extras to the basic bottom of the range.

False economy

If you are among those that are washing two loads per day for most days of the week, the chances are, you are having to spend up to £300/£400 every three to four years on a new washing machine. This spend may well be in addition to money also spent on repairs and on going maintanance.

This is false economy when you have a brand like Miele on the market!

Stick to manufacturer's guidelines and these machines are likely to serve well for many many years. This means wash within the loading guidelines. In my view, what really kills a washing machine in this category is the constant washing of heavier than recommended loads day after day.

If you are only interested in a basic washing machine of the very best quality, from a brand that is environmentaly friendly and robust enough to do what is required, my recommendation is up to that task. Ideally, it should have a drum size of 5 or 6kg, very good on energy efficiency, above average water consumption (40 - 50L) and 1200 -1400 spin.
